Cutaways!
Some wallowed out cranks (FSA Team Issue) were going into the trash so I did a little cut up and sanding on the non-drive to show you kids what's on the inside. I can't comment on how this crank compares to other carbon cranks, so take it with a grain of salt. I think it's kinda cool and will keep this up as busted up stuff comes through the door.

Mechanic tricks
I'm not sure if I'll post very many of these kinds of things up here, or at least not very often, for tow reasons. 1- It might scare people, what it takes to get the job done sometimes and 2-I haven't decided yet if it constitues trade secrets (maybe just me wanting to keep business). Anyway.
A 1990's Italian steel Bertoni with Shimano 600 came in for a drivetrain upgrade. Everything goes smoothly until the drive side BB (Italian thread), throughly seized. A couple of differnet tools, penetrant and some time with the race in a vise with the frame as the wrench and still no movement. So I figured I'd try a method similar to getting off a crap freewheel (using the QR or axle as a tool brace).

So that is a semi-disassembled (cups removed) headset press holding the appropriate 36mm wrench tight against the tool flats of the BB race. A few taps with a hammer on the wrench and a reposition - bingo. It's always nice when you don't have to resort to blow torches or welding nuts on to stuff, or even worse, busting out the grinder and destroying parts.

New G5 with Dura Ace 7900
We have a new BH G5 (57cm) with Shimano Dura Ace 7900 in the shop. I put this bad boy together today got a few junky cell phone photos below. It came in at just under 14.5 lbs without pedals, pretty good. I've decided that I prefer the red color more than the blue ones we have had come through, but to each their own.

Maybe not the same as a bike mechanic
Nonetheless this is a pretty funny commentary from an alternate point of view. Keep an eye out for Paul Simon. And who doesn't like John Candy?

Cliff Scherb is in Bicycling magazine
It occured to me with my previous post that Pedal and Pump Multisports own professional coach, Cliff Scherb, has a new article in Bicycling magazine about breaking past your training plateau. Take a look.

New Boneshaker
A new issue of Boneshaker Almanac is available. Pretty much about enjoyment riding bicycles, sounds about right to me.
Boneshaker Almanac
Speaking of good publications, besides your standard glossies you really can't go wrong with the fantastic Bicycle Quarterly. Not really about the newest high zoot carbon but classic quality and craftsmanship. If I had some extra Zlotys laying around I would scoop up a full set.

First Post
So we're are going to give this blog thing a try. Maybe Pedal & pump Multisport will become the next Fat Cyclist, we might even have give away contests. Though I doubt that we will ever be able to match the quality of prizes, though we do carry Orbea. Who knows, so keep coming back!
